Tomatoes and Flowers

I'm afraid that the title does not refer to a recipe! I've been in a "cooking slump" lately and haven't created anything new (other than credit card debt for repeated runs for take-out). Since I haven't had any food to photograph, I've had a little time to take photos of other things around my house, and I thought I'd share a few with you.

Our cactus bloomed during the night, and I had to take this photo at 6:00 in the morning because it closed up during the day.

Here's the "full-frontal" view. Unfortunately, the flower lasted only a couple of days before it fell off. Ouch.

Here I'm trying to be arty and capture some tomatoes in the rain.

More tomatoes.

I like to use my macro lens to get up close and personal with the hibiscus.

I'll be back soon, when I have some actual food to post!

Are those tomatoes ones you've grown? I live outside Nashville and I can honestly say the produce here isn't nearly as good as CA produce. I've been disappointed this year. And I've missed some good tomatoes. All your photos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your one of your other talents.

I love this post! It's funny seeing cacti in other parts of the country that don't naturally have them. I shouldn't speak since we unnaturally have palm trees (in the desert!).

I especially love the photo of the tomatoes in the rain. Looks like it rained with some sunshine peaking through.

Seeing your beautiful pictures makes me miss home and our little garden. Those tomatoes in the rain are an amazing photo. Your flowers are pretty too. I love this post- even if there is no recipe!

You are so talented! Your photography is amazing! That cactus shot was worth waking up at 6 a.m. for!!

The tomotoes in the rain is my favorite!! I love the streak of rain coming down. It looks so healthy and beautiful, and I love how the sun is hitting the tomatoes.

I'm so envious of your macro lens!! Your second tomoato shot and the hibiscus one are gorgeous. Such beautiful colors.

It's just wonderful. It's the first time I see cactus in bloom (in France they just die or never show their flowers, night or day).
And you really capture beautifully the rain.
