It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Leaves of Grass
After the brown lawns of winter, simple green grass is always a pleasure.

Surprise Visitor
I was taking a shot of this ivy leaf and didn't realize that this little fellow was there until I spied him through the viewfinder.

Clover
They're not four-leafed, but I still think they're lucky...

Clover Flower
They must be--they make such pretty flowers!

Weed Flower
My husband can never bring himself to mow down these pretty blue-flowering weeds that spring up around the yard.
I promise to cook (and blog) something soon, but right now I've got some herbs that need planting. Hope the weather is beautiful wherever you are!

Gorgeous pictures as always! I especially like the first one of the blades of grass. Makes me want to grab my camera and head outside. :)
I'm glad you're getting out to enjoy the day! I love the picture of the surprise visitor!

That's not a weed! That's spiderwort!
Beautiful! You have a wonderful talent for taking pictures. Spring is in the air. It is a beautiful day here in Southern California. We do have our early June gloom in the morning, but once it burns off it is simply beautiful.
I am glad you were able to get outside. do you have any tips on planting your herbs? Mine always seem to die. Shereeb@cox.net
Beautiful shots! I've been taking lots of flower pics lately too :)
Absolutely beautiful pics Susan, I wish I had taken them!
beautiful pictures! i like that green :)
Those are so beautiful and so wonderfully springy. I love the spider shot.
Beautiful photos!
u r such a talented macro-photographer. lovely shots. really spectacular work.
...I think "weed" is a relative too-centered-on-what-humans-say-is-okay term. A lot of plants labeled weeds are very useful to their own selves, to other species and even to the human species, if more humans would be open to accepting their presence. We let all kinds of wild species mingle with any domesticated on our property here. I'm loath to disturb or mow down or do anything that would interfere with the other species doing their own thing and surviving.
The blue-flowering plant in your photo looks like one from the spiderwort family, could be a dayflower (commelina--the pic looks more like that one), or it could be blue tradescantia. They're wonderful beautiful plants, one of my favorite kinds of wildflowers. I love the long slender leaves. We have tradescantia rosea growing here.
Very nice pictures, I especially like the spider!
Oh wow, your pictures wonderfully express the joy of those first really summery days... no wonder you're not in the cooking mode! I'd rather be lolling around in the yard, too!
I got excited when i seen your from Jackson MS, i am located in the small town of Winona, MS. Heard of it? Love your theme of low-calorie-vegan. Would it be okay to add your blog to my directory of Veggie-Blogs. Let me know.
Wow! Gorgeous photos!
Thanks, Savorytart, and everyone else who wrote in to tell me that my weed is spiderwort. I knew it had to have a name, but I just had never found it out. From now on I'll have to post a photo of every mystery plant I come across!
Beautiful beautiful pictures Susan.. Even if you don't post recipes, we readers would definitely enjoy your garden :)
I've never seen such creative pictures of leaves. I've often found them lame until now...
In my family we call anything we didn't plant a "volunteer," some are valued more than others. But I think I paid about $3 per root ball for my spiderworts!

It's first time for me to see clover flower. It's really beautiful.
