No Recipe but Some Begging and a Cat Photo

VegNews2009Fatfree Vegan Kitchen is nominated again for a Veggie Award from VegNews magazine. Last year I admit that I felt a little guilty to be nominated two years in a row, but this year...you know what...I want to win! But the competition this year is fierce, with lots of excellent blogs nominated, so if you love this blog above all others, please complete the survey and vote for FFVK. If I win, I promise to try to stop doing annoying things like talking smack about my family, falling in love with appliances, worshipping eggplant, writing bad poetry, and, above all, posting self-promoting announcements like this.* Seriously! All that will be left are recipes, nutritional info, and maybe a cat photo or two:

Uh-oh. Now no one will want to eat anything from my kitchen!

So vote! (And thank you!)

In other news, I've recently set up a Facebook Page where I've been posting sneak previews of recipes and vegan and food-related news. If you're on Facebook, please consider becoming a fan and joining the conversation on our wall. (Unfortunately, there are no cat photos. So far.)

*Just kidding! I couldn't write any other way if I tried!

Survey done!

But I have one question: how did you get my cat all the way to your house to take her picture without me noticing? You are sneaky!

Well, if you stop doing all of those things, there's no way I'll vote for you!

Love this blog, Susan, exactly as it is. Thanks for so many mouth-watering recipes!

Pulltaffy, I lured your cat here with the aroma of baking eggplant. She loves it! ;-)

Anonymous, I'd have a hard time not doing any of those things, so don't expect any real changes. (Shhh! Don't tell the people who hate eggplant and poetry!)

As a recently converted to the "vegan until six" thing (and a likely vegetarian in the middle run), I've found tons of great info on your blog... but please don't do away with everything else! I love that too! I will vote for you if you promise to keep the rest up... Thanks again for your blog.

Susan, I'd vote for you in a flash, but here in New Zealand we don't have enough of those products for me to be able to vote in 50% of the categories... so I can't vote! Good luck!

Sooz, I filled out the survey and voted for you wherever I could. It's North America based, so I had to walk up and down from kitchen to computer to honestly say what I liked best (read the labels). I hope you win.

Still inventing,
Elessar in Ely.

Goodluck with the award!

Hi Susan,

Well, of COURSE I voted for you. . .you've been feeding me consistently for almost a year and a half now, and, with help from Karina's wisdom at her blog, many of your recipes now also translate to being gluten free. It's a win-win situation!! And here's to cats, eggplant, and poetry in the mix as well!!

xoxo

I apologize for the late post... I did vote for you. I truly believe you deserve to win. I have tried many of your recipes and, most especially, any featuring eggplant. It is nice to see someone else who is as crazy as I am about eggplant. I just cannot seem to get enough. No one in my house likes it but it does not stop me from making it! Your cat looks like a younger version of my Bagheera whom we rescued from the streets when he was around 6 months old.

Voted for you weeks ago, but I just saw this post and had to comment on how adorable and cozy your kitty looks! I let my girls hang out wherever they want (yes, I'm one of *those* types) and I've also gotten some cute shots of them on the fridge, in the sink, in the dishwasher and so on!

Thank you all for your votes! Your comments here mean more to me than you'll ever know.

Jenn, I've tried to persuade my cats to keep the counters off limits, but they just don't listen to me, particularly this one, the kitten. I guess they just don't take you seriously when your first impulse is to run get the camera!
