It’s done! My blog has “moved” without really moving. It’s still at the same URL, all the old recipes are here, and thanks to a hardworking site designer who carefully followed my directions to “make it look the same,” it looks so much like it used to that I’ll bet 90% of you won’t notice any change. (If you don’t notice any differences–such as the smaller previews of posts at the bottom of the home page–then you may need to clear your browser’s cache to see the changes.) There was only one unexpected problem, which I will ask your help with in a minute. Besides that, the only other issue is if you subscribed to the blog through the old feed, you may need to resubscribe. The best feed to use is this feedburner one, and if you were already subscribed through Feedburner or by email, you probably don’t need to do anything.
As I mentioned, there was only one big problem in the changeover: Most of the comments were lost. All comments prior to last August are gone…poof…history! Since this blog is over 4 years old, that’s thousands of people’s responses, variations, criticisms, and experiences that have been lost. Most of my older recipes now have no comments at all, nothing to indicate whether people tried them or liked them.
What I’d like to ask you to do is this: If you tried a recipe from the blog and your comment is no longer there, please take a minute to leave a comment on it describing your results, good, bad, or indifferent. You can really help guide people who may be thinking about making a particular recipe. Just use the search box up in the right sidebar to help you find the recipes.
Now, about that photo above, and a little game I’ve devised….
Right now, as I type, I’ve got a new recipe simmering in the kitchen. It’s based on a very old recipe from this blog, and it uses the ingredients in the photo. All except for one of them were in the old recipe, and if you enter the right 4 ingredients into the search box, you should be able to find the old recipe I’m referring to. Find it, post your answer in the comments, and I’ll send the first five people to get it right a FatFree Vegan refrigerator magnet, valued at over 25 cents! (Hey, I just spent all my money on web design, so things are tight!)
I’ll post the full recipe over the weekend. Until then, please look around the blog and let me know if you discover any problems.

Thanks to you all for your comments here and on other posts! I wish I had more magnets!

I use windows internet explorer.
The computer is one of those smaller laptops. It’s an Eee PC.

It sounds like maybe your browser isn’t enabled to see Javascript. You could try looking at the setup options to see if there’s a way to enable it. I’d hate for you not to be able to search!
Laina
I’m guessing Grilled Baby Eggplants with Korean Barbecue Sauce, because you love eggplant! 🙂

LOVE the new look, Susan!! Ironically, I’m just recommitting to a vegan lifestyle and came looking for some old recipes. Sorry you lost your comments, but I’ll be hard at work the next few weeks trying out old favorites and new, and will be glad to fill in the blanks!

Congratulations!Your site is wonderful. I come here often for recipes and vary them to suit our tastes and the ingredients available. All the very best.
Joanne
Are you making the Miang Kum Rolls with red peppers now? Congrats on the site conversion!
Debbie
I’m not seeing a search box (or a right hand bar at all) with Firefox 3.6.3 (java script IS enabled). However, I can see it in IE8. (I’m running Windows 7.)
SusanV
Thanks for the feedback, Debbie. That’s so strange! My daughter’s computer has that same setup (FF 3.6.3 with Win 7) and everything shows up in hers. I wonder what could be going on? What happens on the right–is there just white space or does the text just run to the edge of the screen?
Laina
I have java enabled. Not sure what the problem is. 🙁

I just had a thought: Do you have ad-blocking software installed? It may treat the Google search box as an ad, and the rest of that sidebar contains ads.
Laina
I have a pop-up blocker, but that’s not the problem.
I downloaded firefox and I’m using it. Low and behold, the recipe search box is there. Yay! 🙂

Love how your keeping everything fatfree!

I noticed. Long time reader who does not like the new site. The two column look at the bottom is cluttered and confusing, and means I’ll miss things if I don’t catch them when they’re at the top. A lot of the blogs I read have recently switched to this same design. 🙁 Apparently it’s popular and for most people it’s not a problem. For me it is. I know that with columns you get more on a page, but why do you want more on a page if you can’t read the whole thing anyway? Tiny print, cluttered layout…I just don’t see the attraction.
Still love your recipes though. I just printed off one last week and sent it to my dad, who doesn’t have a computer.

Is this game over? Was the answer ‘Miang Kum Rolls’ or ‘Grilled Baby Eggplants’?
SusanV
Yes. The answer was Miang Kum Rolls.
